THE FIRST FOUR WEEKS

Grafting joins the top of one plant to the roots of another.

For about four weeks that join has to be held still, kept damp and kept clean while it knits together and puts out roots. Most of the plants a nursery loses are lost in that window, and the loss is invisible until the count at the end of it.

Every item we sell does one job in those four weeks. That is why the catalogue is arranged the way the work is, and why the sleeve you order is chosen against a measured stem rather than a product name.

SIZE IT AGAINST A MEASURED STEM, NOT AGAINST A NAME

SPECIFICATIONS

Every item has a specification, and we publish it.

Bore and wall thickness for every sleeve. Particle size, bulk density and pH for every grade of vermiculite. Formulation, pH and conductivity for every peat. Available chlorine, pack size and shelf life for every drum of hypochlorite. Dimensions, material and pack quantity for trays, labels and record books.

You can read all of it before you speak to anyone. Safety data sheets and certificates of analysis are issued with the consignment, and every batch carries a lot code that matches the one on your own records.

ORDERING

We quote against your programme, not against a price list.

There are no prices on this site, and that is deliberate. What an item costs you depends on annual volume, pack size, the specification you need, where it is delivered and how much notice you can give. Tell us the programme and you get a figure that holds.

FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT
Specification, indicative annual volume and terms, agreed once
MONTHLY CALL-OFFS
You release quantities as your grafting schedule requires
BUFFER STOCK
Held against agreed volume, so an upstream delay is our problem
QUARTERLY REVIEW
