The most common rework we see in new propagation blocks comes from installing climate control or monitoring before the benching and irrigation layout is finalised, which then has to be worked around rather than planned for. A practical build order is: confirm benching and racking layout first, since it fixes the walkways and bench widths everything else has to fit; install irrigation (drip or ebb-and-flow) to that fixed layout; then climate control — misting/fogging, heating/cooling, shade and screening — sized to the block’s actual volume and glazing, not a generic figure; and add monitoring last, once sensor placement can be chosen against the real airflow and irrigation zones rather than guessed at.
LED grow lighting and automation controls, where used, integrate at the climate-control stage since they interact with heating load and ventilation timing.
PropagAfrica designs and installs propagation systems in this order and can also design around an existing block being upgraded in stages — a full block does not need to be rebuilt at once. Our Technical Services team runs site visits (on-site, virtual or farm-based) to scope a new block or a staged upgrade before anything is ordered.
